L’informazione oggi somiglia a un nastro che scorre senza sosta, h24, dove tutto sembra avere lo stesso peso. Eppure, tra le notizie che si consumano in un attimo, ce ne sono alcune che nascono lente, costruite con ostinazione e rigore. È in quel ritmo diverso che vive il giornalismo d’inchiesta, quello che il Premio Pulitzer 2026 riporta sotto i riflettori.
L’edizione di quest’anno restituisce un ritratto del presente fatto di contrasti: potere e trasparenza, tecnologia e responsabilità, decisioni prese nell’ombra e raccontate alla luce. I lavori premiati hanno un tratto comune: la capacità di scavare dove altri si fermano.
Il premio giornalistico più rilevante quest’anno se lo è aggiudicato il Washington Post, per una serie di inchieste legate all’amministrazione di Donald Trump (a firmare la maggior parte degli articoli premiati è stata la giornalista Hannah Natanson), e cioè l’indagine sui licenziamenti di massa all’interno del cosiddetto Department of Government Efficiency. Il dipartimento, noto anche come Doge, è stato guidato per un periodo da Elon Musk con l’obiettivo di ridurre i costi della macchina statale. L’inchiesta ha messo in luce la velocità e le modalità con cui numerosi dipendenti pubblici sono stati allontanati, aprendo interrogativi profondi su trasparenza e gestione del potere amministrativo.

Hannah Natanson’s reporting anchored a package of articles from The Washington Post that won a Pulitzer on Monday, four months after agents seized her devices.

At 6:05 a.m. on Jan. 14,
agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation converged at the door of Hannah Natanson, a reporter at The Washington Post. They had a search warrant and entered her home, seizing her iPhone and other devices.
For the previous year, Ms. Natanson had reported on the Trump administration’s efforts to shrink the federal work force and cut programs. The F.B.I. search was part of an investigation into a government contractor who the Justice Department said had leaked her classified information.
The event put Ms. Natanson’s name among the targets of the Trump administration’s aggressive campaign against news organizations. There was no precedent for the Justice Department’s searching a reporter’s home in connection with a national security leak investigation……….
